Silkie x D'uccle, why did none hatch?

I attempted to hatch two some eggs from my Buff Silkie and Porcelain D'uccle, both developed well but did not hatched. When I opened the eggs after a few days, I found a dead chick, with the yolk & blood almost fully absorbed, but both were not internally pipped. Does anybody have any ideas about this? Once I collect enough eggs,(5 maybe) I will incubate them and see if it was just a coincidence.

Temp:99.5, dry hatch

Usually about 60-85% hatch from dry hatch.

Did you turn them? Were they ALL fertile?

There was an auto turner, and When I opened both of them there was a fully formed chick inside. All the other eggs that were fertile hatched.

They could have just been to weak to hatch. This has happened a few times to my eggs. How many did not hatch?

Okay. Thats kind of a small batch so it could have just been a weakness problem. Sorry that happened! I would try and put some more together.

I'm going to incubate more from that hen when I get enough eggs.

Thats about right, what was your ambient humidity during the first 18 days and during lockdown? (Ambient humidity means the natural humidity in the air without controlling it.) I would buy a hygrometer for your next hatch and stick it inside the bator. Humidity maybe was not high enough?
