Hello -

We recently had a silkie hatch some eggs that were from our Gold laced Wyandotte, the only rooster we have is a black silkie bantam. There are 4 chicks and at 1 week old all look the same except one has black legs and the others have light colored legs. They are yellow with really pretty black-laced little wings. I'm just wondering if this x will be a good one, ie; egg laying and gentle personalities. Will they most likely all look the same or is it possible one will look like a silkie bantam and another just like the Wyandotte or ???? Last question (for now

) How long will it be before we know genders?

Thanks so much!

Well you know you gotta post some pics right ? LOL

But as far as what they should look like, with most silkie crosses, they come out all haveing smooth feathers, and possibly a little crest, dark skin, and some degree of leg feathering.

So yours should basicly look like that and the color would probably have some indication of lacing.

I would expect that then hens would be good broodies too.

And seriously, pics would be great
