I have a dozen silkie eggs that go into lockdown in 2 days (yippee) After candling them, 4 are duds, the rest are moving inside

any tips from you experts??? I have heard they are harder to hatch/keep alive??

I never had a prob with silkies, I got eggs from ebay and had my little mutt hen hatch them, I got 5 out 0f 6 eggs and they did great

Thanks. I am so excited, this is my second batch from my new incubator. Hopefully I learned from all my mistakes on the first batch (which weren't silkies)

I have found that all the smaller eggs seem to do better at a slightly higher humidity than the much bigger or heavily colored eggs. Good luck on your hatch!

Once they pip through I usually spray when with warm water to raise humidity and encourage them. When I hatch silkies in the bator they want OUT and into the brooder ASAP. My layer chicks will take a nap and figure out their feet and then want out. The silkie chicks peep at the top of their lungs until they get out. Then they sleep in the brooder. My silkies usually hatch anywhere from a 12 hours to a full day early.
