Silkies Egglaying

I am new to the Silkie and was wondering at what age they start laying?

It depends sometimes if the silkies are show quality or pet quality. SQ usually take longer to start laying. That being said....it still varies.
In general though silkies are the one breed that are really late bloomers and can be 6-10 months B4 they start laying.

For me 6-7 months is what I have experienced. Then they will go broody.

I think ours were 7-9 months old when they started laying eggs, & one of them went broody within a month.

Mine are usually around 8-9 months, but had one start laying at a year old.
