HOPE TO GET SOME PEOPLE CHIT CHATING ON A NEW TOPIC,

LAST WENDESDAY I CAME HOME TO FIND MY WHITE SILKIE SNOWBALL SITTING ON THE NEST.LATER ON MY PARTRIDGE SILKIE BUTTERSCOTCH STARTED SITTING WITH HER. MY LAYERS KEEP LAYING IN THE NEST SO SHE HAS LIKE FIFTY EGGS. I DO NOT NEED CHICKS ANYMORE RIGHT NOW BUT WHEN I THROW THE EGGS OUT MORE GET LAYED. I DONT HAVE ANY BREEDING PENS OPEN OR ANY PENS OPEN.IF I HAD THESE THEN I WOULD PUT THEM IN THERE WITH FAKE EGGS. ON TOP OF THAT MY NESTARE TOO SMALL TO FENCE OFFF.



I NEED SOME EXPIERENCE AND AND BROODY GOOOD SILKIE ADVICE.

Hello and welcome to BYC

If you don't want them to hatch out eggs for you the best thing to do would be to "break" their broodiness. You can do this by putting them in a wire cage with only food and water, no nesting materials. When a hen goes broody her body temperature goes up and if she's in a cage like this it is very hard for her to maintain that elevated temperature, so after (an average of) 3-4 days she should give up and stop being broody.
