silkies

We just gave a silike rooster and his hen a new loving home. OH.MY.GOSH. THese two are SO SWEET. We have chicks that are 4 days old, but this is our first hen/rooster and first silkies. SWEET. We sat in the co op watching them for a long time today! LOVE THEM.

So, what is YOUR fave thing about silkies? Anything special we should know?

i'm a new silkie mom also what color are yours? bearded or non? mine were giving to me but i bought my hens (white nonbearded)

I have a white silkie hen & she makes me laugh every day with the adorable sounds she makes. Sometimes she sounds like some kind of squeek toy. Puts a smile on my face all the time.

I have 16 silkies. and the only thing I hate about them is how volnerable thay are to injury. other than that they are the love of my life when it comes to chickens. right now I have 3 sitting on one nest of about 20 eggs (some belong to my barred rock hen-she snuck them in..lol)that are due to start hatching next tuesday. I love the way they are so sweet and they are funny to watch. plus I love their size.

yeah i really want different colors. are yours bearded? all in the same coop? i have read to not breed the whites with blue and lav. so idk i kinda just want to mix all diff. colors and see what i get lol

my older ones are in one coop and my younger ones are in another. I have a couple of bearded and the rest are not. my silkies are for my pets only
