I have found a contact locally, so my problem with high shipping fees is over. She has Silky/Cochin (some she says are purebred silkies). What do you think of this cross, temperament wise? Also, I noticed most photos of this cross aren't particularly fuzzy birds but some have fuzz on their heads. I'd be happy with just the head fuzz. Anyone here cross them and know what I can normally expect? I won't be getting them until Feb/March. I'd love to see pics too, if you have them!

I had a few years ago. Most had smaller crests and smooth normal feathers. I have a picture of one of the roosters, they were all roosters in that batch. It was a buff silkie crossed with a silver pencil Cochin.

Both cochins and silkies tend to be gentle mellow breeds, so temperament on the hens is usually nice. The roosters can be nice or little stinkers.

I believe straight feathers are dominant over silkie feathers, so I think most if not all mixes will have regular feathers in the first generation.

Seems that way from almost all the pics I've seen of the cross since I started this thread. It's a shame. Even though I really want at least one Silkie, I might have to settle for this cross, and I'm sure I'd love the chickens to death anyway.
