hi. I'm new to this site but i visit it everyday. I'm sadden to say my 4 mo old lil silky died just now. Ive recently built a very nice chicken coop and just put my silky,5 chickens and a wild turkey chick in. they were all in 2 separate cages until we were able to complete the coop. i had my silky and turkey in one cage and the 5 chickens in the other. the coop was done and everyone went in together. all week they seemed to be doing just fine until about 2 days ago. i noticed my silky wasn't as active and then today it was very weak and not getting up, laying with its Lil head down and eyes closed and drewling alot. i looked on here and ppl were saying something could have been caught in its throat and maybe to massage the throat... or heat stroke ( I'm in Florida) to wet him under his wings and the head. i done just that and he died in my hands. I'm heart broken ... he was just the sweetest thing. he actually taught the turkey all it knows. if it was disease..... what should i be on the look out for the rest of my chickens and my turkey?... cause the turkey never left the silkys side and acted confused when i took the silky out to try to save him. i now put the turkey in the cage inside the coop. should i take the turkey out in case of disease?
