Hi! I'm new to ducks. I've had chickens for decades. My 18 year old daughter got a couple of female ducklings this year. They are now fully feather juveniles living outdoors with my 30 or so chickens in their yard. One of the ducks is a Buff Orpington..... and she likes to follow me around as I do chores muttering to herself "mah mah mah, mah mah mah" and if I repeat the sound to her, she gets more adamant and louder and follows closer. If I crouch down while she's doing this, she'll softly nibble my clothes - of course, she doesn't want to be picked up/petted..... but curiosity is driving me nuts - What is she up to? It doesn't seem aggressive. I'm wondering if that is how they beg for food or ?
