This is a new chicken my neighbor just picked up. I don't know how old it is. She was telling me today it was making a weird crowing noise, but it's supposed to be a hen.

I went out to look at it just now, and it looks like a rooster to me, even if the spurs are non-existent. What do you think?

She was confused because she's had it for two weeks I guess, and it didn't attempted to crow until today. Odd, huh?

I vote for Roo. My SLW hen has virtually no comb & she is completely laced...all the way to the tail. He's a handsome guy & I love his comb!

Yeah, he looks totally different from my SLW. He looks full grown to me (or close to it), and she corrected me- she's had him a month, and no crowing til today.

She has another rooster, but he's been injured for 2.5 weeks.

I agree... Handsome Roo! His comb is too big to be a hen. I have one roo that I've only heard crow 2 and a half times. If you have more than 1 Roo, the dominate roos will be the only ones that crow when they feel like it. This spring I'll be getting more pullets. I have a feeling he will do more crowing then. (I'm pretty sure it has a lot to do with the Hen/Rooster ratio.) Good luck!
