Silver Lakenvelder

I hear they're good layers, small but flighty. Haha not much. However I did just order a chick off mypetchicken and will post when she arrives (along with a blue andalusian, a polish, and a gold spangled hamburg!!!).

I have a few of them. They are very flighty, but mine are pretty friendly. My rooster is just wonderful.

I can pick him up and tote him around like a handbag anytime(he doesn't care for it, but he's very good). My hens are curious and will hop in my lap from time to time. They lay really well and supposedly they aren't broody(although I have one right now that is

).
All around beautiful very good birds. They are always the first birds people notice in my flock.

I just got one today I think its about 7 weeks old, I don't know much about them accept for she was getting terribly picked on by a lot of chickens and I felt I needed to rescue her. She is very pretty and from what I see on the google images, she should turn out beautiful!! I hope someone out there knows about them and educate me, cause she is mine now!!

flighty means more that they are shy and jumpy, kind of skittish maybe? Not as relaxed as some other breeds....

That is so funny because she is not skittish at all in fact she is the calmest bird of my flock and I just got her today! I know that could change though, I have had some of mine change personality pretty fast! But so far so good and I went out to check on her tonight and I suspected I would have to bring her in the house and wouldn't you know it, the least expected bird of my flock, the rooster!! The roo had her underneath him, protecting her

THANK GOD!!!! But also how funny!!! He was the one that was picking on her the most when I first brought her home today! He must be somewhat of a good Roo!! Post some pictures of your Silver Laks for me to see

So I am assuming at this point there is no Silver Lakenvelder thread, should we start one? I will post pics of mine tomorrow and we can get this show on the road!! I would love to see pics of everyone else's and know more about this wonderful creature!! She is so calm and docile and thats probably why she was getting picked on but now she is mine and I would love to know more about her!! I hope more of you would give your input on this!! If I am being stupid or stepping on anyones toes, I honestly don't mean to! I just want to know more about this bird and see pictures too=)

Thank You!!

I can't wait to see and CONGRATS!! I love mine so much, she is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Please post pics when you get her I would LOVE to see them!! I also have a blue andalusian she is SPUNKY, we named her Betty Boop!!! I thought she was a roo when she started to get her comb but then I was informed that the hens get high combs so don't freak out if yours starts to look like a Roo at about 10 weeks, she probably isn't. If she turns out to be a he I am sorry!! But they are very pretty in color and have a very good temperament as far as I can see. Can't wait to see pics!
