So i have silver lakenvelders and i just cant seem to find much information on them...if you have raised them before, please let me know about your experiences and different things....thanks in advance :)

Congrats on your birds!
Is there anything in particular that you want to know? Are you concerned that they may not get along with other birds you have?

As I am sure you have read, Lakenvelders are a European breed and from what I have read and heard about them.. they are a very nice breed of chicken to own.

Their only downside (if you can call it that) is that they are non-setters...kind of like alot of the Mediterranean breeds they don't tend to be good mothers in the sense that they just don't feel those motherly 'broody' urges to stay put on those eggs-- this is a good thing if you want eggs and not chicks... But if you want to raise Lakenvelders--I would invest in a hen like an Americauna Or Silkie to be a serrogate for hatching your eggs if you don't have the fortune to get a broody hen....or invest in a incubator.

Hopefully some one else will be along to chime in :)

I have 1 Silver Lakenvelder. I also order 2 Golden Lakenvelders but both died in transit. I have a batch of 2 Goldens and 1 more Silver coming in June. I cant wait. So far of all the chicks I have (they are all 9 weeks old) the Silver Lakenvelder is pretty distant. She will come when I have treats but thats it, she's pretty stand offish and does her own thing. I'm hoping the new batch will be friendlier since I will be able to spend more 1 on 1 time with them. I do look forward to all my Lakenvelders to be full grown I love the way they look.
