Hi all,

I've been browsing around as a guest and decided to create an account for more information. I am recently looking to buy maybe a pair of silver pheasant for my father as a gift but looking for some education on how to raise these birds. I have some chick starter feed, wondering if I can feed juvies it?

You will not find any juvies until May or June. They need to be fed a gamebird crumble and when older mix in gamebird pellets and eventually do away with the crumble. The need to be in a covered pen either wire wood or anything to stop them from flying out,and stop predators from getting in.They should not be kept with or near chickens as chickens can transmit diseases they can handle, but will kill pheasants. As adults they will need to be wormed 2 times yearly.I do mine in Jan before breeding season and again in August just after breeding season.I use Ivomec(available at tractor supply)3 cc per gallon of water.
What state are you in?Maybe I can find someone local you can buy birds from.Unless you already have contacts.

Clarence Birr in St Cloud,Jason Boudreau in Farmington,Mike Loss in Brainerd,Howard Miller in Emmons. All raise silver pheasants.
