Awesome website. You are doing everything I admire in farming.

Also, thank you for the lead on J.M. hatchery. I was hoping to find something not red, though. Did your research uncover any other sources for non 'Cornish Crosses'?

Thanks, Grey...this is actually my first year to be 'open to the public' and the first year for my website, so this will likely be an interesting summer around here. (Prior to this it was just family and friends as customers.)

My first choice was not reds, either, but considering the alternative would have either been CCs or no birds at all, I swallowed my pride and ended up with reds. They are growing nicely and should be pretty meaty when the time comes.

I've still got more digging to do, but as I find more info, I'll let you know.

Your website IS lovely, Mary!! I thoroughly enjoyed it! Thanks!! Greyfields is correct; everything a lot of us are working toward....

Nancy

Thanks, Nancy...

Building my website was a great wintertime project. I worked on it on weekends and rainy Sunday afternoons this past winter. It has been a fun labor of love, to be sure. I still tweak it probably 2-3 times a week. Definitely a work on progress.

Now if I can just get to the point where I can do my farming thing full time and quit my day job! (sigh) A girl can dream, eh?

Enjoy your day...

I forgot to add that I did find some more possible alternatives to the FRs in my digging last night. I have posted that info on the thread "Alternatives to Freedom Rangers" (seemed like a logical place to put it, eh?

Anyway, instead of reposting it here, just take a peek over on the other thread if you are interested. It will be fun to see what everyone ends up with this year. We will have to keep those digital cameras handy and post lots of pics.

Great site! Good for you! I love that you are raising your animals how they should be raised. Funny how this is exactly how the entire country thinks (pretends) their meat is raised. Keep it up, it seems to be working well for you.

Adam

Thanks to all of you for taking the time to take a peek at it. Adam, I think you are absolutely right that this is exactly how most people prefer to believe that their food is being raised. There will always be a place for the small family farm. When using your acreage wisely, it is amazing what you can produce on just a few acres if you do it the way that God and nature intended.

Thanks, again!
