I have a single chick only a day old. My other chicks are now 7 weeks and outside in the coop. I am worried the single chick will be lonely and not learn basics by itself in the brooder box but I cant put it outside its too cold and its too small. Another problem is my other chicks were vaccinated against Mareks by the hatchery but this chick hasn’t. My vet doesn’t do vaccination so worried about it getting sick. Anyone have any advise I am not sure what to do.

i think if you pick it up and hold it and spend alittle time with it several times a day it will be fine .. i had a turkey like that once .. it turned into a big 'lap chicken' lol followed me around everywhere ..as far as the diseases go i havent had much experience .. generally if you keep things really clean theres never a big issue .. ive had batches of both vaccinated and not and never could tell a difference .. some birds just keel over and die every once in awhile, like anything else .. poisoning parasites and predators are a much bigger threat 'if' you keep a clean place .. ..

I have no problem spoiling it silly 🥰. I read online that some chickens never get Mareks. Growing up we had chickens and I never remember dealing with a lot of diseases But my parents taught us to take good care of our pets so I will do my best and keep it clean. 🌸

Well I wont do a single chick again. Poor thing follows me around and seems so lonely. I give it attention when I can and bring outside to visit with the others but its way too small to leave the brooder box 🥺 it chirps loudly and jumps against the brooder box side. It got so bad I put the brooder box in my living room next to my chair so it could At least be where I was. It helped settle her down some but I cant wait for her to turn into a teenager 🤪

Ive resorted to letting her sleep in my apron pocket.
