So I got a couple chickens a few months ago and was assured they were both hens.... One was a rooster... I kept him around and put an ad on Craigslist to get rid of him because I can't have a rooster in this neighborhood. Well yesterday he started crowing away like it was his job. Not only was this mildly embarrassing but the likeliness of someone calling the law was now inevitable. So I packed him up in the truck and took him to a farm in north Florida where he will be ok but now my hen is different. She is clearly unhappy with my decision and is expressing that to me vocally.
Can I just get another hen and put them together or what? I don't know what to do is all. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You will have to spend some time 'introducing' them to one another. If possible, place the new hen in a sectioned off part of your run. Give them time to meet each other through the fence. Then after a day or so of that, try them together... There will be an adjustment period. But, I would think if the single hen is lonely she will be more likely to accept a new hen quicker.

Chickens are naturally flock animals so she will not be happy with on her own. As mentioned before, getting 2 would be a great idea.

Any fighting that would take place would only be temporary as they sort out the pecking order. The tips offered here and elsewhere on introducing new birds will help as well. Introductions done correctly will help reduce this. But most of all your hen does need some hen friends.
