Single rail ladder

I got this coop with my home and want to replace the ladders with new ones. I would like to make ones similar to the existing ones but there are some parts rotted off etc. Anyone know how close the rungs should be? How steep cam they be? My hen came down from the nesting box and basically slid down the last bit because of missing rungs. They are very happy using them but I want better but kinda the same.

That's a bad design for chickens. Ramps with cleats placed 6-7" apart work much better.

You want a shallow ramp of less than 45 degrees.

Chickens feel more secure on solid structure than an open one.

If you don't have space for a long, shallow ramp, chickens handle stairs quite easily, hopping from step to step.

Or a set of artistically placed stumps... a different take on the stairs.

Usually a hop of 1 foot is super easy.

A hop of 1.5 feet still good, 2 feet might be hard for some.
