I have a singular Cayuga female duck left of my duck flock. Last week the male runner duck passed away, prior to that we had a couple other female runner ducks too. I was hoping to phase out the ducks, but she is 3, so relatively young still. She lives with our 5 chickens and seems to get a long well with them. Do I need to get her another duck friend? She is quite loud, but was before the loss of our male duck, so I can't tell if she is calling for him, or just doing her normal noise.

They do seem to do better if they have another duck maybe you can search on here post on your state thread and check out Craigslist for a female friend for her?when my gooses mate passed I decided not to get another mate for her she’s 12 yrs old she has bonded with the Runners. It’s best not to bring home a drake since you have Chickens and only one female duck he may go after your hens and that won’t end well.
