I have a hen sitting and due to hatch the first week in June. One of the other hens goes into the coop and bullies her off her nest and leaves another egg behind.

All the eggs of the original clutch of 12 have been marked, so my husband and I remove any unmarked eggs daily.

My question is... Any recommendation how to keep the bully from bullying and adding eggs? And, will this continue once the chicks hatch?

My first time allowing a sitting hen to hatch her eggs... I never knew it was so complicated...

This is the main reason to move the broody soon after she begins to set. She should be in her own private quarters in a nest at ground level to provide privacy, security, and easy access for the chicks. If her nest is not at ground level, you will need to move her anyway. Do it at night and as gently as you can. If the nest is at ground level, leave her alone until the chicks have hatched, then move her. You may need to remove the offending hen/hens just before hatch day as the broody WILL defend her chicks and crushed or injured chicks may be the result of the scuffle. Good luck.........Pop
