Six hens, how many boxes?

I am looking at building a 5x5 coop to give them 4 sq ft each. I was thinking about 5 nesting boxes along the back for easy access to eggs. is 5 too many or too little ?

4-5 nest boxes per hen. Two would be plenty and they would probably only use one. I have 3 boxes on my 6x8 coop with 9 hens.

Agreed. 2 is plenty.

I have 6 hens, 3 nesting boxes, they usually use 2.

They will use one because clutch tendency, have another for spare.

Another thought if you have not built the coop yet. 5x5 will likely mean two piece floor board with a seam. Think about 5x4 or 6x4.
