While we haven't had an issue yet, I don't want to chance it.
We'd like to be able to plan a weekend away without having to have somebody stop in (we are in the boonies) 2x a day to get the ducks out and then herd them back in.
We are going to be building them a new house in the next few weeks (once we finalize the design) and I was thinking about placing it next to our shed and just add a pen around it. The area I was thinking is about 13x12. We'd need to get different fencing so the ducks can't get out of the fence and other things can't get in.
Right now it is just 2 runner ducks.
We are hatching runners at school and some chickens. I'll likely bring home a couple/few of each with the goal of keeping 2-3 chickens (no roosters) and a duck and drake (only one boy duck allowed).
For a weekend, would this be enough space for 3-4 ducks and 2-3 chickens? We could have somebody stop in during the day to refill food/water.
