We got a set of twin goats a few weeks back. We're new at this so we haven't learned all the right questions to ask but were told they were friendly (not true) and their mom was a good milker (to be determined). Anyway, the wether has really come around and LOVES being pet. The girl is just starting to come around. He has gotten much bigger but she has not. On some days she appears super skinny and on other days its not noticeable. She's also got poop stuck to her tail but we haven't noticed her having the runs. We are going to get a hold of her to clean her up but I've been hesitant since it will undo any progress we've made with her. We gave them some dewormer about a 4-5 days ago but today she looks soooo skinny. Help!! I'm going to go try and get a picture. Oh, they are brushing out some land for us right now and they get grain in the evening.

Well, it wasn't quite as noticable when I went down there.

How old are they? Have they had a copper supplement yet? Most soils are copper deficient so if your goats graze, they won't have enough copper to make sure they are totally healthy...I get my copper supplement from Jeffers Livestock supplies online... also look into purchasing a SE-90 yellow mineral block as goats need the extra selenium in their diet... I also give loose minerals as well as loose free choice baking powder (Arm & hammer)

I feed my goat a pellet feed instead of grain and a mineral block. She is a healthy happy camper

many things can cause sticky poops, could be stress, change of feed.... If you have a Facebook account, you can go to the group Goat folks of Southern Nevada, There are many VERY helpful breeders and dedicated hobbyists and you don't have to be from Nevada to join...

They are about 10-11 weeks now. I'm not sure what they got before we got them but we give them loose minerals and there's a mineral block in there.

Does he have a temp? Has he had a fecal run? Have you checked for cocci?

He is a cutie!
We haven't checked her temp. She's a little tricky because she's so jumpy and we're trying to get her to trust us. I don't even have a way to take a goat temp. Not sure how to do it.
I was telling my husband that we should take a fecal sample in somewhere. We just don't get to town often.
