skittish ducks

I house them at night. I have an area covered in my chicken coop for them, but in warm weather they like to sleep in the fenced run. I let them all free range during the day, and I'm sure they would be happy to stay out but it's not going to happen. Most days they'll go in without a fuss, but some days (like last night) they give me the run around haha They're lucky I love them.

Same for me! Some nights it's easy as pie and they go in on their own..other nights I'm walking in circles for 30 minutes to get them in. If it's raining out----no way are they going in their coop, they would stand in the rain all night if they could! Mine also have a little cubby area in the coop, they love sleeping in that little area opposed to the open "run" area.

we haven't had a problem with them either, but we were outside, and a cat just walked up to us, and was looking inside the pin(at the pool), summer in Texas draws all kinds of animals to a water source, and the cat wasn't scared of the ducks, or us at all.
do you have yellow jackets/wasps around the pool? we have tons, and I'm afraid they're going to attack the ducks getting in and out.

Yes! Rain especially haha. I'm sure they'll be extra sassy today since it's been raining all day. There are times when the chickens are going in and if it starts to rain the ducks are gone in a flash making rounds, hunting for worms and murdering toads haha

My ducks will stay in the coop if it's really, really cold or snowy, but this summer they kind of hang out by the ramp. I'm sure at some point in the night they go in...maybe they're trying to prove a point? Like I can't "make" them go to bed :)

I don't have any wasps or yellow jackets around---but, since the dead of summer has hit, most mornings when I go to let them out their pool is bone dry even though I've cleaned it and filled it the previous night. So, I know animals are coming around :(. I keep meaning to put up a deer cam. I also just purchased one of those red flashing things that are suppose to good for deterring predators, they are only $20 on amazon, definitely worth checking out.

I'm not sure how to rid the pool of wasps,
there is a water spout thing that shoots water out every few minutes and it's supposed to deter predators as well, it scares them away, I've heard rubber snakes, and rats work too

I'll have to check that out. The past few nights I can hear the coyotes are on the move. And about a month back someone hit a gray looking fox so I'm sure theres more than one of those around too.

As for wasps. I would either spray them then clean everything or set up a trap.
