slatted floor with droppings tray?

We are in the process of designing a coop for our 4 chicks. We are planning on a 4' x 6' space.

Has anyone built a coop with a slatted wood floor with a tray underneath to remove poop? (similar to the Omlet Eglu concept) Good idea? Bad idea?

Chicken poops are BIG, like pingpong ball sized or sometimes larger. Much (slash most) of the poop will end up remaining ON the wooden slats, so it will not really save you any much on labor. the Eglus are built that way because there is really no alternative in that design, but it doesn't necessarily make it a good idea when you *do* have an alternative...

But, of course, it's up to you
