I got this 2 month old Easter egger pullet along with 3 of its other flock mates. The other 3 are doing fine, however this one is low energy, cowers down, and eyes closed. I have it some water with a bit of black strap molasses mixed in (according to ratio I researched) plus couple beak dips in raw egg yolk. It’s not very interested in the egg yolk, but did drink a little of the water. I haven’t given it any chick starter. It is currently separated from my flock in a quiet and dimly lit box. What can I do to save it?

She looks like she feels bad. Have you checked her crop first thing in the morning to make sure it’s emptying properly? What does her poop look like bloody or mucousy poop?

She just sits with her eyes closed. When I bring the water up to her beak she does drink. Same with the yolk, but she doesn’t just get up and get it herself. I showed the farm owners and they said she didn’t travel well. It was a one hour car ride and the other 3 did fine, but maybe this one was sat on the whole time? She was fine when we got her. What’s the likelihood of her surviving the stress?

We just got her today about couple hours ago along with three other pullets. The other three are fine. No mucous poop. Pooped solid once when we brought them home. Hasn’t pooped since.

Try to mix up some sugar water for her or Gatorade if you have it. If it’s stress from travel the sugar or Gatorade should help boost her glucose.

I gave it some blackstrap molasses in water and egg yolk. Do you think the molasses water helps as good as sugar water?

Usually molasses is given as a flush if they have crop issues. It’s a mild laxative for chickens. I would try regular sugar water.
I noticed that the right eye of the chick is a tad cloudy. Soemtimes she opens her left eyelid but the right is closed. She still falls asleep easily and I switched to sugar water mix in a quiet dark cardboard ventilated box. Do you think she maybe got injured on the ride home and just needs some time? How am I supposed to nurse her overnight? Wake up every few hours to hydrate it?

Get some photos of her eye and of her poop.

I'd try to get some sugar water into her.

Hard to know if it's travel stress or if she was already not very well and the travel made it worse.
