We have the hen house ontop of the run. We have an opening on the floor of the hen house about 12"x14". How steep should the ladder be? How far apart should the rungs be? And how wide should the rungs of the ladder be? Pictures greatlly appreciated/

Thanks

I'd say forty five degrees or less. You don't want it so steep that the ones on the higher rungs are dropping manure on the lower ones.

.....Alan.

I don't know. We still have to go out every night and put our chicks (10 weeks) up in their coop every night. But I don't know if it is the slope of the ladder or if one of the little roos stands at the opening and won't let them in. Out of all of them, there are only 2 that I know climb back up the ramp.

My ramp is 4 feet off the ground. I placed the steps every 4 inches. My chicks are 3 months old and have no problem getting in and out

Thank you that helps me very much.

I will just use (for the width of the rungs) about 1 1/2" - 2". That's the width of my roost as well.
