I have 13 Sebright eggs that started hatching yesterday, almost 21 days. It is now over 24 hours day 22 and five have hatched. I'm trying to get to a point when I can take out the hatched chicks. It's like one hatches then another one pips. How long can I safely keep them in the incubator. I have not opened it since lock down. They are taking their time from pip to hatch every time.

Thanks

Just take them out right now, no harm will be done to them or the eggs still to hatch!! I took mine out after an hour or 2, no problemo.

I have one with an open shell now piping. That chick will be able to continue?
Sure, don't worry too much about the humidity thing. I went back and forth on my incubator during lockdown, no problem. Just don't leave it open for too long and everything will be just fine.

Hi Joe,

I only hatched guinea fowls (so far) i had 14 eggs hatched (on day 26/27/28) it takes about 24-27 days for guineas to hatch.

Because some of them already hatched (and i didn’t want to open the incubator too much) i put a little lid with crumble food in their and one with some water.

To be honest, i’m not sure how it works with other breed/eggs, but i noticed the little ones helped the other ones hatch..so that was also one of the reasons i let them stay together for a bit longer.
Also knowing they would be fine for a day or 2 in the incubator.

Hope someone else also replies, since i’m not a ‘professional’ (yet!) and don’t want to give bad advise.

I hope your chicks will hatch soon and be healthy:jumpy

How are the little ones doing? I hope everything’s going well
As of now I have 9 healthy chicks out of 13 eggs in the brooder. They are eating and drinking and looking good. I still have the last 4 eggs in the incubator just in case. The last one hatched today around noon.

Yess! I’m so happy they’re doing alright:D
I think that’s a great outcome till now!

I’m not sure how many more days you can wait for the last ones to hatch tho.
With my guinea fowls i took some out to listen (don’t know if they already pipped internal and are breathing/alive or even ext pipped?).

I’ll keep my fingers crossed:)

Thank you Nathalie, I will try listening to see if they are alive. The time is growing short for hatch.
