slow silkies??!!!!

oookkkk......... I got 4 barred rocks and six silkies from mpc. They are on the same feed and all and the same age. THe barred rocks are so much more feathered out and bigger than the silkies!! Is it because they are bantams?? Are silkies just slow?? I guess I dont see feather developement is because they dont really have feathers that are perfectly straight. They are so much more delicate than the barred rocks also.

Yes I agree. I think you don't notice the growth on the Silkies because they don't have the same type of feathers and are a smaller bird.

i believe that most silkies are bantams. yours are most likely bantams. how old are all the chicks? i have 3 silkies that are a week old and they just really started getting their wing feathers a day or so ago. i'm new to silkies and i was surprised to see this cuz i just wasn't really expecting feathers. dumb of me i know.....if i look closely at "teen" silkies i can see that they do have the pin feathers, they just poof out instead of being a "normal" feather. but i'm sure someone that has more experience than me can help better.
