I got my first order of chicks today! 5 of the 6 are all running around like mad except for my little salmon faverolle girl. She will drink but not eat, she teeters around (kinda like a drunken stumble) and she keeps falling asleep. Also, she's not pasted up. Any ideas? She's already my favorite. I heard faverolle chicks aren't very hardy, is this true? I added some of that electrolyte powder to their water, along with a tablespoon of sugar. Any suggestions would be helpful!

I took a few pictures. Hopefully I'm posting in the right area?

This is a close-up of her. Her legs seem to splay out a little bit, I'm not sure if its enough to be called splay leg though?

Here she is with her group, she's the yellow one collapsed in the back

I just had a tiny litte bantam cochin, I got from a feed store. Just barely double the size of a bottle cap! She would not eat or drink. After a few hours I re-dipped her beak in the water so she knew where it was. That day she still didn't seem to be eating or drinking. So sleepy and quiet. I took her out and gave her some food on a paper towel and water in a bottle cap. It took a while but without any other distractions or heat lamp to cuddle under she finally started eating and drinking. Very awkward for a while. Had to do this 4-5 times before she decided to eat and drink in the brooder.

Good luck!!!

I've not had any luck with the salmons...same situation...just sluggish...gets worse and worse until it dies. I had 2 from a hatchery and 3 from a local breeder and only1 has made it...the breeder one. They seem to be very sweet tempered and docile...they must not handle stress well

No, she died that night. It was very sad, shes was the sweetest little yellow puff. She started vomiting water and choked on it, I think.

I buried her under a blooming almond tree in the back yard. I'd like to try again with another faverolle girl, but I can't find one in Central California. If anyone knows of any, PM me! I got her from mypetchicken, so the shipping stress from Ohio was probably too much
