SLW is a big big bully :(

So our SLW Sterling is a big bully. She chases the other 4 chickens away from both of our feeders and doesn't let them eat. And yes she is a girl. When we put her in the "Bully coop," she started squaking really really loud so that's not an option. Any suggestions? We're thinking about rehoming her.

I was going to suggest a second feeder but then I re-read your post. Jeez.

What about those little clip-on chicken "glasses"? The are like blinders. Maybe it would keep her in check.

I agree. Separate the bully! I am trying currently to mix our new rooster in with the girls, and it has problems. He's been here 3 weeks and is the biggest coward I have ever known. Even our lil silkie pullet picked on him! I don't have anywhere else to put him but in the coop, but even after our special introductions he hasn't defended himself, and the girls won't stop picking on him. Only the pullets respect him. Well, except for Opal, the bossy Silkie LOL. Any suggestions?

I agree, my mother did what you are doing with my sister when we were kids. (I know chickens aren't humans) However when my sister was punished, she would cry until she threw up, and my mother would feel sorry for her because she was "sick". Lets just say she grew up to be a very entitled adult. Let the bird yell it's head off until it learns.

Agreed, do not reward obnoxious. Perhaps a squirt bottle to quiet the yelling? Otherwise, if your attempts at separation for a lengthy time do not work, rehome her to a larger flock. What are the dimensions of your coop and run? do you let them out to free range?

When we separated her, she started to get really loud, so we are giving her to our neighbor (she grew up on a farm). I tried convincing my mom to give her chicken "glasses" but she is such a big bully! She's the fattest of the flock and leaves only dust for the others.

Yes we free range them. Our run is roughly three by eight and my mom refuses to get a bigger one ("It's too much work!")
