Just wondering when your SLW's began laying. All the rest of my pullets have just started laying but I'm still waiting on my SLW. She was the first of all of them to turn red but does not squat. She is 28 weeks.

Should be soon, but mine was last too...most wyandottes are late bloomers compared to other layers...

Our SLW was the third out of eight to lay. She started laying on Sun. the 10th and she was 24 weeks old. So far our light brahma, black sex link and a runt barred rock are the late bloomers in this flock. The ee's that were supposed to be the last were the second and fifth to lay in a flock of eight pullets.

Mine were early bloomers 20wks and about 23 wks (the second one, obviously was harder to pinpoint).

I think these things totally depend on the strain within the breed.
