What color legs are SLW's supposed to have?
I ordered 3 SLW's and ended up getting 4 of them and 1 has black legs, the other 3 have yellowish orange legs. This one with the black (or dark colored legs) has the most white in it compared to the others. They are 5 weeks old now.

One of these was supposed to be an EE. After they grew a bit and started feathering in I noticed I was shorted 1 EE and ended up with 1 extra SLW. I know I only ordered 3 SLW's so I just assumed one of these SLW's was an EE until after they feathered in. Maybe this one with the dark legs is a EE/SLW cross?

Thanks Cynthia,
So does that mean this SLW with the black legs is a mix of some sort? This little chickie was almost pure black and had hints of brown on it's head when it first got here. It also looked like it had two stripes down it's back like the EE's did before the other 3 or 4 EE's died. I was thinking that this was going to be a black EE but then it started looking more and more like the other SLW's when it started feathering out.

It could just be a bad SLW. We crossed our SL roo to some EE hens and got some birds that looked like EE's with a bad silver laced pattern. Can you tell what kind of comb it has? If the comb looks the same as the other SLW's, it could just be a bad one, if its comb doesnt look like the others, that more than likely it is an EE.

This one appears to have a pea comb, it seams slightly different than the other three SLW's combs.
I can see the 3 ridges in it's comb and the other 3 seam to be kinda all one height all the way from the sides to the center. The combs on these 3 are pretty wide and don't seam to go as far back on their heads from the back part of their beaks like on my BO's and RIR's.

Do EE's have that kind of comb (pea)? What kind are the SLW's supposed to have.

Well, I guess it will be interesting to see what color eggs it lays in about another 5 months if it is a pullet. Somehow I'm thinking it is going to end up being a roo though due to it's seamingly bigger legs.

I need to take some updated pics of them to post sometime when I get a chance to take them outside when the weather clears up for some good pic taking. I do have some pics of the chicks posted in the "raising baby chicks" thread back on about page 5 titled "I just ordered 19 chicks from Ideal" (pics on page 3 on that thread) if anybody wants to see what they looked like at about 4 to 5 days old.

This chick is the one that looks all black in those pics. I beleive it is the chick in the middle of the first pic (the one with the black legs) and in the pic with the 4 EE's one of those turned out to be a SLW (bottom left?), and in the last pic this chick is the black one to the far left and the other 3 SLW are in the center from the top going down with a BO in between the second and third SLW.
