Small Beachside Flock

Hello folks,

So we’re exploring the idea of a small flock/coop for our beach home just South of Cocoa Beach, Florida. Local codes only allow us to have 4 hens only so applying the rule of 2s I’d like to build a habitat that could comfortably care for 8 hens.

We are brand new to the chicken experience so we have no hens yet. We are researching the best egg-layers for our climate. Stumbled across this forum via a simple Google search and are happy we did. Been lurking and reading for a while but getting ready to dive in soon. We're an active, homeschoolin', soccer-playin', surfin', Star Wars family that loves loving others and worshiping God.

I am pleased you delurked and hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
