small brown and quick moving- what am i?

scaly legs and difficulty walking devoloped in a rooster overnight.

I saw something quick like a flea and on the skin .

what was it?

Sounds like mites. If you think it's scaley leg mites, you'll need to smother them with vaseline - slather it on thickly.

Sounds like scaly leg. Dip each leg in mineral oil for a minute or so. If it is scaly leg, you will need to treat all your birds, and spray the roosts and nests with an insecticide. I don't think that DE will work well for scaly leg, but since I have never used it, I'm not sure.

Scaly leg can cause birds to lose feet and legs if left untreated.

if you don't want to use chemicals, tea tree oil works great on leg mites. you can either get a liquid soap like dr. bronners and rub it on full strength or put a few drops of tea tree essential oil in a gallon of warm water and dip their legs in it a couple of nights in a row.
