Hi,
I can get eggs from a partridge silkie who is young and laying small eggs.....are they a lost cause to incubate?

A lot depends upon how small 'small' is. Most people don't set pullet eggs because of the reduced nutrients available for a chick in such a small egg. On the other hand, in my experience pullet eggs from silkies are not all that much smaller than eggs later in the laying cycle. If the eggs are extremely small, I would not set them.

I had my best ever hatch using pullet eggs, but most were the sizes of at least a medium egg. I had a couple that I was worried about being on the small side (polish and silkie) but they all hatched out perfect. I personally wouldn't set eggs from a hen that handn't been laying for a few weeks at least and never an extremely small egg.

Thank you both,

I can drive up to get them so no harm in taking a look. The 2 shipped eggs incubating now are only 34grams, my smallest local was 35grams and it hatched a lovely healthy chick.
