I'm getting chicks from meyers next month. 5 chicks to live in a dense suburban setting in NE ohio. There are several other coops in a few mile radius of the house and a decent amount of wild birds. The chicks will have their Marek's vaccine there. Should I order the Newcastle vaccine from Meyers to administer myself? Any other vaccines they need for a small flock?

I dont vaccinated at all. Not because I m against it or anything. We have a closed flock between 3 farms and exchange chicks amongst ourselves. One of the others brought in an outside rooster to aid in genetics. It was from a reputable breeder and WAS vaccinated for MD. Well guess what. After that rooster showed up, we started getting MD cases (confirmed by necropsy) in all our flocks.
Once MD is present, it canbtake years to be rid of if ever. It doesn't effect the meat or eggs so we have just accepted a certain potential mortality. So far we have only list 3 birds to MD in 3 yrs. But they all have it. Some are just asymptomatic
