i got 30 2 week old Barred rock chicks about a week and half ago thus making them about 3.5 weeks at this point. Seems like 4 have always been behind growth wise a little. I tried isolating for feeding and even adding some hard boiled egg but they seemed much more freaked by being isolated. They have all been acting fine and they def get to eat. They act chick like but slightly yes aggressive than the rest maybe.

but then today one seems just out of it.....she is just standing around sleeping. no real response to be touched, a slight peep or 2 when picked up but very non active. Not eating with the rest or even really running around at all. they have tons of room, its clean, its 75-80 degrees, plenty of water (with ACV)

any ideas? I dont want her to get anyone else sick either.

Honestly, it would be unusual to buy 30 chicks with none having problems. As long as most of the bunch seems healthy, it's most likely something genetic or that occurred during hatching. Slow growers are often referred to as failing to thrive -- which really tells you nothing except that it's not that uncommon.

There's a long discussion in a sticky in the Raising Baby Chicks forum that talks about the things that most often go wrong with new chicks.

yeah not really surprised, i know there is issues with all young animals. was just wondering if i could do anything or give her everything I can and see how nature plays it? The majority of the flock is growing well and acting fine.

so now she is not really responding to stimuli....if i whistle all the birds run around. she sits. is she beyond help?
