Hi Everyone
wee.gif

Easter brought me 2 Pekin Ducks, (my son is 22 so it's not a mistake, I have been thinking about this).
I do have 13 chickens and would like to raise them together.
I would like to make them a small pool area, w/ some plants ( if possible) for everyone's enjoyment. Not to big, I may start w/ a kiddy pool until I come up with what I want.
Any hints!?

Ignore any mistakes, in time I'll get this. I'm totally new

Congrats on the ducklings!!! They are soooo much fun! A kiddie pool sounds good to start them off with. Remember when you go to build your real pool the first(maybe second) thing to consider is cleaning it. Ducks muck up a pool like fire spreads on a dry windy day!

! Great to have you with us!! I agree with the simple kiddie pool idea - just to get your feet wet, so to speak...and your feet will get wet - duck are notoriously messy. As far as the plants in the pool idea, I'd advice against it. Even if you are able to find an aquatic plant the ducks won't eat, they will likely trash it as they take laps in their pool. Also, put the pool in a place you don't mind getting torn up - the ducks splash water and then bore holes with their bills in the soft ground. Hope I didn't discourage you - ducks are a riot, just more challenging in my opinion. Have fun and enjoy your quackers!!

. I agree with the above posters. You will be much better off with using a simple kiddie pool. I can tell you from experience that using a small pond can cause a lot of issues. Live plants also seem to be killed off within minutes when ducks are involved.
