Hello all. So here goes. I live in Vermont where I grew up on a small farm for all of my youth. I have not done any of it in a long time. This past winter one of my sons wanted to raise some chickens for eggs and as a way to make a few dollars. We spent time doing the research. And we built a nice coop together. We started our flock with 20 mixed red pullets. We then added 20 straight run Production Reds a few weeks later. We now have a healthy flock of birds living in the woodlot behind our house. I have enjoyed the bonding experience this has created. We intend to start some Cornish Rocks for meat in a week or so. That should do it for this year. The pullets have already started laying a month ahead of schedule so the eggs are flowing in and the whole family has gotten into the excitement of going to see how many eggs we got each day.
