This morning we noted a small wood chip in our chick's eye. We promptly removed it but now it is watery and swollen. Is there any eye ointment we should use to prevent infection beyond this irritation? Thanks so much. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

There is a neosporin eye ointment you can use, but you may just want to flush with sterile water and monitor the irritation.

You can also flush it with contact lens solution. It have germ killing properties. Don't be alarmed it it bubbles a little like peroxide when using it. That's normal.

You might want to keep her in an area where there aren't any flies. The maggot problems are terrible this year and a fly would go right after the poor thing.
