Smell?

Hey!

Since this is my first time having chickens I'm not sure if my neighbors will smell them. They live about 200 feet away at the closest. Can someone give me any opinions on this?

That depends on your chicken husbandry.

Honestly, with proper husbandry, that should not be necessary. Lyme is caustic. I would avoid it if possible.
Using poop boards that are cleaned every day or two and DLM in run and coop too if possible will lead to basically no offensive odors.

Keep the coop dry and clean, and there will be minimal odor.

Agricultural Lyme isn’t caustic like other lymes. I use it with my chickens, pigs, and other animals. It’s made for animals.

Deep bedding in both coop and run. Then weekly sprinkle with scratch, and the chickens will break up the manure and it will dry out.

A lot depends on your climate. I live in a dry environment, and don 't have much issue.

As long as their run and coop stays dry and well ventilated, odor shouldn’t be a problem. Will you be free ranging your flock?
