I am new to duck keeping, can anyone help. We currently have a fair few eggs in our incubator.. A couple of days ago, an awful smell started to fill the room. It's a bit fishy, not like rotting eggs. Any suggestions as to what this could mean, they are due to hatch within the next week.

I'm not sure but if your smelling something you might better check those eggs out good, from all I've heard an exploding egg inside a bator is a nightmare. Take out the eggs one at a time and candle and smell if they are due to hatch next week you should be able to tell right away who the offending egg is.

Thankyou. That's what I thought but am so nervous about disturbing them ! Watch this space!!

We checked the eggs ... Seems it was the water, three are now pipping!! Soon have baby chicks, fingers crossed!
