I just got two new hovabator genesis incubators. Now I've got this smell throughout the room. It's *almost* a burning plastic smell, but not quite. It seems to be coming from the incubators. I unplugged one completely, and unplugged the turner on the other (because it was hot on the metal part... is that normal?) but the smell remains. I smelled the eggs inside and they don't seem to stink.
Do hovabators stink when they're first fired up?

How many thermometers do you have?
Just because the one your using says 99.7* it could be 115*
You better triple check it to make sure.
I always do.
Anotherthing is that you should run your bator overnight to make sure that it keeps a good constant heat.
Not just bring it up to temp and put the eggs in.

I dunno' just alittle imput.

Oh, yes my little giant egg turner metal part gets hot.
Hope that helps

I let it run 24 hours before adding the eggs.
I have three thermometers in there. Two digital, and then the one that came with the incubator. All are reading right around the same temp.

Well, sounds like it may just have to get broke in alittle.
I always like getting new stuff too but at that point one thing can be different from the other if you buy more than one.
You'll just have to keep a nose on it to see if it's getting better?

Mike

Good luck on your hatch and I would plug the other one back in for a week or so to get rid of that NEW INCUBATOR SMELL.
