HELP!!!! Today 7:00 pm we went out to collect our eggs and there was a snake in the brood nest, it was about 4-5 feet long and about 3" in circumference. It did not get the egg, we don't think.
We ran it off, but how can we keep snakes out of the coop and nest. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

They say to put golf balls in the nest not just for the chickens but for the snakes. Supposedly they eat them and try to escape through the fence and get stuck. But your snake is alot bigger than that. You need to snake-proof your coop so he can't get in. If he's that big....?....than there's a BIG hole somewhere or the door is open.

I don't know if getting a pig is an option, but pigs are supposed to eat snakes supposedly.

Moth balls repel snakes, but they have to be where chickens can't get at them.
