@centrarchid i don't know if it's my apparent ignorance that offends you or something else. But your lack of help and support I find nothing short of irritating and angering.

I don't know if it was a snake or a fox, or any other animal at this point. And part of me doesn't really care now. But you haven't helped, and infact your comments have only made care less about what attacked my flock.

The bite was to larger for a raccoon or possum, and to small for a cayote, the missing chickens and how clean the bite was indicates it wasn't a dog either. Obviously a snake didn't take a full size hen, but the reason I thought snake with the first losses (besides that it was oddly only 3 tiny chicks) was because there has been a rattle snake near the coop recently, one I almost stepped on in fact but was unprepared to kill.

My investment thus far minimal as you are jumping gun and not looking for and reporting signs that are consistent with predators I know. Others for some reason supplying you with support.
