Snakes

Hi so unfortenetly today a snake got into my silkies coop and killed my rooster he was very brave and sacrificed himself but does anyone know how to keep this from happening again. Also one of my chickens went missing but there are no feathers or Reminisce from her she also has been roosting but we take her eggs away and so she has stopped laying them in the coop and I’m not entirely sure if she could be roosting or if a fox got her

I'm sorry for your loss. How did it get in? Block all holes and gaps with hardware cloth.

I'm so sorry for your loss!
Hardware cloth over every opening larger than 1/2" square!
Bantams, and especially Silkies, who are essentially flightless, as at great risk from every predator out there! Keep everyone locked in a safe coop and run for at least a couple of weeks, while you discourage this particular snake, at least.

To keep snakes out use 1/2" Hardware cloth on top,sides and along the bottom(apron). You aren't going to be able to keep snakes out if you free range and leave doors open. Sorry for your loss.
