Sneezing chicken!

hello...my buff orpington is sneezing...when she sneezes a bit of snot comes out. other than that she seems to be fine...she layed and egg this a.m and is eating etc...should i isolate her? do chickens get colds? thanks?

its usually respiratory illness they don't get colds like we do. bring her inside and a really excellent med for respiratory illness is tylan 50 available with syringe at the feed store usually. don't worry the bottle says for cattle and swine; many many poultry owners including myself use tylan 50 for respiratory issues. its an excellent choice when it comes to respiratory. dose is as follows for chickens. large chicken use 1/2 cc once daily for 5 to 7 days. small bird use 1/4 cc once daily for 5 to 7 days. i suggest injectable because dose is more controlled than water soulable antibiotics and it gets into the blood faster and packs a bigger punch in healing respiratory illness! you can give the injection in the nape of neck or side of breast. if you never gave an injection i suggest watching and looking up on YOUTUBE injecting tylan in chickens. they have a wonderful tutorial on how to give the injection. its very easily done. after watching the video you should feel more confident about injecting. this is what I'd do if it were MY chicken!! you should see improvements in only a few days! with injections they tend to get a better dose of antibiotic and heal quicker in my experience. i wish you the best and hope she heals soon. I'd start her on tylan50 today! remember chickens don't really get "colds" its a sign of respiratory illness coming on so faster you treat the sooner the bird will be better. i really hope this is helpful to you. It's possible she couldve inhaled feed dust or perhaps a feed granule and it's causing her to sneeze. Most respiratory diseases show other symptoms such as gurgling, wheezing, facial swelling, continuous runny nostrils, bubbles in eyes, head shaking.
You can try a warm saline flush into her nostrils to try and loosen/remove debris IF that's what the problem is.
