Just got a group of leghorns from the local hatchery. They are still separated from big flock. I noticed one making a noise like a hiccup. I finally caught her and got a listen. She was making a gurgling noise in her throat. The eyes are clear and there is no discharge from the nose. She is laying, eating, drinking, and running fast. I had lost a diamond earring in the coop prior to this and was unable to find. Have not noticed any symptoms with the others. I have been giving her Nutri Drench daily, Vet RX under the wings twice daily, and bread soaked with oil. Any other ideas or suggestions?

How often do those respiratory infections clear up without loss? I have several pullets who have the gurgly throat/sneezy symptoms, yet still eat and drink and act fine. I've tried Duramycin on the 5 who shared the coop of the first one to show symptoms, and even Tylan injections on that first one, but no major changes in the symptoms over the course of a week. Chickens still acting mostly normal, though more of the 5 now sound slightly rattly. Does this sometimes just go away? I separated them, but not before there was some contact with the rest of my flock. I'm hoping they'll all get over it. Whatever it is, it is not somethng that is acute. My ladies have had slight symptoms for well over a week and they still act fine.

I'm wondering is there any way to clear the congestion like with a bulb syringe? Don't want to try unless somebody has done it before.

how much medicine did you give and for home many consecutive days did you give it?

I am continuing with the bread & oil, Nutri-Drench and Vet Rx under the wings. Everyone is still the same with the affected hen showing improvement. Cleaned again but no diamond. Will not integrate with main flock until symptom free.
