My Red Golden hen has always sneezed occasionally. But, yesterday, my DH said she sounded congested, and this afternoon, I noticed what appeared to be nasal discharge. She looks like she's got debris stuck on her beak. I'm thinking about going out there after dark tonight and getting her off the roost and checking her out. I just don't want to stress her if she is sick. Mine do NOT like being handled.
I've had her since August and I think she's an '08 hatch. Her previous owner had her in with chickens and ducks. My pheasant pen and chicken pen are about 8 ft apart. We just moved them into this new pen about a month ago. She started laying last week and I was planning on loading up the incubator tonight. Just want to give ya'll all the information I can think of on her. It's been very wet here the last week too. Several big storms.
Any ideas what may be going onand what I can do for her?

No. Funny thing though. Went out there again this evening and the debris was gone. Wondering now if she's just a messy eater....

Or Maybe Digging And Got Some Dust/ Dirt/ Sand In There??? It Is Season So They Like To Make Nesting Hollows??? I'd Watch Closely For The Next Few Days Just To Be Sure.... Hope Its Just A False Alarm Tho

Thanks JJ!! DH just checked her when he walked the dog and said her nose "looks like a pheasant beak." He couldn't see anything on there. I'll keep a close eye on her though, paranoid as I am.
I've gotten the impression that the Pheasants are more delicate than Chickens.
So, watch out for smelly discharge and head swelling?
