Hello,

My one silkie chicken is sitting on the roost a lot and is sneezing. What might this be? What should I be looking for. This is my first year with chickens and the weather has been very cold! They are in a coop, deep litter method, heat when it's colder then -15.

Watch to see if she is sneezing more than once in a minute. Tske her off the roost and offer some water with electrolytes. Poultry Cell or NutriDrench is available at feed stores, and you can give her 1 ml orally daily, a drop or two at a time.
Sneezing every few seconds can be a sign of a respiratory virus, such as infectious bronchitis. It quickly will affect other chickens, and cold weather can bring out symptoms.
It is important for her to eat and drink, and keep warm if she is sick.

Did your silkie stop sneezing? I just made a post asking the same thing. I have 2-3 out of my 11 that are sneezing. Sometimes a few times a day and sometimes once a minute+. No discharge or other symptoms and mine are still inside (9 weeks old).

Thank you all! She still is sneezing the odd time but it's not often. No discharge. I'm keeping a close eye on her. She's eating, drinking but then heads up to sit on the roost. It is cold so I'm guessing it's warmer on the roost.
